MJ's first Cross country!

Recently we had Toko school cross country. We had a beautiful afternoon and MJ was eager to get involved. Mrs Eagar took you tookMJ to the start line. MJ waited for the start and Mrs Eagar talked to him preparing for the race.
Go, It was time to race. You and Mrs Eagar took of with a burst, running down towards the bottom field following the other children. However you decided to have a stop by Mrs Bright but that's ok because you joined back in as the group starting running back past.

Off to the finish line you ran with Mrs Eagar beside you. You are very good at running MJand it was great to see you being independent.

After a sprint to the finish line it was time to celebrate. I dont know if your heard it but lots of people where chanting your name as you crossed the line.  What a great achievement MJ were all proud of you and your effort.

Speech board

This year Renee is doing her speech on her Dad. She has 6 pictures to talk about.

This is what she said about each picture.

My Dad paints my nails.
My dad loves to have a beer.
My dad plays golf.
My dad goes to work in his white car and he takes his briefcase with him.
My dad loves to go fishing .
I love my dad.

MJ is learning to write.

MJ as part of being a Room one member and a member of Toko school there are areas of the curriculum we have been working on and firstly it has been wrting. With this in mind I adapted some of the tasks so that you would have positive learning opportunities along with opportunities for success.

I used both resources that all the children use, for example the printed cards and then also a whiteboard for handwriting time.MJ took a while to get into this activity but now as we near the end of term three he hasshown some great progression. When its work time he is eager most of the time to get stuck in. And now he are sitting down taking the lid of the pen and waiting for me to start. As his enthusiasm has grown I have developed a new resource. We have a big handwriting book, that shows how each letter is formed along with small activities that help develop the hand control for each of the letters shapes.

I have added examples of MJ's work to display his success in this area. I start him off hand over hand showing how to create each letter shape. as we progress further in the task I lessen the help he has  and give him the freedom to explore the letter shapes, with me giving verbal direction. MJ has shown great success and the willingness to trust me and give it a go, I know your family are very proud of you and so are all of  us at Toko School.

The NEW Tramp!

Today MJ your mini trampoline arrived at school, we decided that at M&M time we would set it up so you could give it a test run. Well ,lets just say lucky I had you and Renee to supervise me. You watched with great excitment as I pulled the pieces out and looked at the imstructions, you sat down beside me and surveyed the diagrams as I read them allowed.  We got all the legs into postion and together we counted them. OH NO Stacey should have paid better attention to the instructions. I forgot the safety mat, now that was a challenge. So we counted backwards as I took each leg back off. You were not very impressed with me dismantling it but I showed you the safety mat, and said "soon, silly Stacey", which you then clearly repeated back to me. After some wrangling of the safety mat we finally were ready, and you could barely wait to hop on. Your face lit up as you bounced knowing that this was for you to use at our special group times.

( This is the uninpressed look I got with the wait for a turn.)

Pom poms make for a great celebration when the tramp is ready to go.

LOLLY CAKE!!!!

Cooking is such a fantastic skill for our children to be immersed in.

Every Friday these children participate in cooking a variety of things. They get to use their senses and experience new and interesting textures. They touch, taste, and smell different ingredients and get to take home the finished product. It is a real challenge for some of the children to take the risk and try something new, but they are getting very brave.

They all listen to the recipe, identify ingredients and have turns at mixing, beating, cracking eggs, sifting and tasting!!

Lolly cake was this weeks recipe. The eskimo lollies were a hit!

First we got out all the ingredients.

Billy and Renee crushed the biscuits.

We broke the eskimo lollies into pieces. We all tasted them. YUM!!!

Next we melted the butter and the condensed milk. MJ watched with great interest.

Billy learnt how to use the can opener to open the condensed milk.

The condensed milk was delicious......EVEN MJ TRIED IT!

Billy and Renee took turns to stir the mixture. It was very tempting to lick the spoon!

Lastly the mixture was pressed into the pan and coconut sprinkled on top.

Our favourite things!!

At M and M club we have our favourite things that we love to do.
MJ loves the tunnel. He goes in and out of it,rolls around, takes things inside it to play with.Endless fun! MJ also loves the piano. He listens carefully and is quite gentle with the keys.He likes to lie on the seat and feel the vibrations the piano makes.
Renee loves to do puzzles. She finds the pieces that match and places them on the number board. She does not move until the job is done.
Korbyn loves balloons and bubbles. They float above him and he tries to follow them with his eyes. Sometimes the bubbles pop on his nose.
Billy loves the musical instruments.
